Sub Zero Treating Services

After atmosphere or vacuum heat treatment processing and quenching, "cold treatment" (to -120 F) is available, followed by a tempering operation.  This process enhances the transformation of retained austenite to martensite, resulting in certain hardness, dimensional stability and stress relief benefits for machined parts and castings.  Deep cryogenic treatment involves slow cooling of hardened parts to -300 F where they are held for relatively long periods followed by warming to ambient temperatures and tempering.  This treatment enhances strength and durability, providing longer life to many alloys when subjected to wear and abrasion.
