You turn on your furnace, and you smell gas. What should you do? First assess what the smell most likely is, and you may not need to call anyone. Of course, if you’re still nervous because you just don’t know, turn off your furnace and give one of our highly trained technicians a call to come out to diagnose the smell for you.
Your furnace may be blowing cold air because the pilot light has gone out. Call us or request service online to have it properly fixed. This is indicative of a bigger problem that requires professional help.
Insulate the pipes in your home on exterior walls or in unheated areas such as crawl spaces, garages, basements, and attics. Turn off the inside water shut-off valve that provides water to your outside spigots or hose bibs. Drain each line by opening the spigot until it stops dripping and then turn off the spigot. Use a faucet cover to insulate the outdoor spigot and further protect it from freezing. Seal windows or any cracks that would bring in a draft.
